Peter Sham

Peter Sham (book & lyrics) is perhaps best known internationally for his work as book writer/lyricist for Lend Me A Tenor: The Musical (Brad Carroll, composer), which celebrated a successful run at the Gielgud Theatre on London’s West End in 2011. The musical was nominated for an Olivier Award, received thirteen BroadwayWorld.com West End Award nominations, including “Best Musical,” and was the winner of The Critic’s Choice Award for “Best Theatrical Event.” He is also the author of the musicals, Sherlock Holmes and the Great Royal Goose Chase (with Brad Carroll), Blue Collar Musical (written with Brandon Scott Grayson), Toyland, and It’s a Dog’s Life: Man’s Best Musical; the plays, A Christmas Carol: On-the-Air, its sequel Frankenstein: On-the-Air, Shakespeare’s Moby Dick, a classical adaptation of Herman Melville’s American novel, and Twinkle, Twinkle, Killer Kane, written with William Peter Blatty (The Exorcist), adapted from Mr. Blatty’s Golden Globe Award-winning Best Screenplay.

Most recently, Peter wrote and directed the 2021 horror film, Far Remote, and he’s currently at work on A Penny Urned, a nine-episode TV streaming series created & written with Roger Bean, author of The Marvelous Wonderettes musical series, and more.

A veteran American regional and off-Broadway actor, Peter holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Delaware’s Professional Theatre Training Program, and for the past nineteen years, he’s been professor of theatre at Southern Utah University, in Cedar City, UT. Peter is the recipient of the Utah Shakespeare Festival’s Michael & Jan Finlayson Award for Acting; is a 2-time SUU Thunderbird Award-winner for Professor of the Year; the recipient of SUU’s Scholar of the Year Award; was awarded SUU’s highest honor, The Board of Trustees Award for Excellence; and has garnered national recognition as the recipient of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s Excellence in Education Award.
